    Noob Stat Question

Hey guys, I'm returning to DD after playing at launch last year. I've been trying to research how best to build my aura monk and roll an alt to complement him well -- However, all the info I've found on stat caps have numbers listed in the 1,000's, and for the life of me I can't find where those stats are listed on my character. Is there some way of displaying the skill point screen differently? I'm majorly embarrassed to admit this noobdom.

    Thanks so much.

    -Mik

Hi Mikairu and welcome back to DD.

Your questions were a bit vague but i'll try and help you out a bit.

The stats you have individually on your gear is hard capped. This saying that you can not upgrade stats after a certain point on idividual gear parts.

Although your total amount of stats (the total of all your gear + pets + weapons + acc's etc) is soft capped.
This means that some stats after a certain amount don't give as much extra's anymore.

    Quote from danielsound on http://forums.trendyent.com/showthre...e-your-opinion.

So get that Summoner geared up: (Tower Health and Tower Dmg as high as you can, once you have 2 perfect rocks or near perfect rocks, you don't need to worry about range or rate. Rate soft-caps at 1200)
Monk the radius won't make much difference after 1700 (It'll make a difference, but it's really really small, I wouldn't worry about it), and to be honest the Health of 1500~ is pretty managable just repairing or tower boosting once in a while, so I would say Stack more TDMG and TATCKRATE (To make those Electric Auras fry the monsters, and fry them fast!)

As he stated tower rate on summoner soft caps at about 1200.

For example lvling from 600 till 1200 might double your rate but after that point it goes up by 0.01 or something.
So you can lvl past it, but it won't be as effective as previous upgrades.

I hope i helped you a bit, also hope it is not too confusing.

Hey Boyjim, thanks so much for the help. Actually, my question is even more noob than that. What I'm trying to find is where I can SEE my stats listed in the numbers you mentioned. I'm on a PC and when I open my character screen, I just see the number of skill points I've placed into the different tower skills (plus gear of course). For example, I'm at level 71 and I have 83 points invested in aura radius, and I have no idea how close to the soft cap of 1700. Does that make more sense?

    It makes more sense :P

The soft caps i described are not seen in the game. (for as far as i know, someone correct me if i'm wrong here)

It's not something official in-game, it is something players found out and shared. The last thing i guessed to be honest because i also never found the soft caps in-game.

You can alway upgrade past the soft cap. There should be some lists on the forum on what the soft caps are per character.

So if it is the soft caps you are looking for it is not a noob question , it's just not there

Hmm... It seems so bizarre to me that we would measure soft caps in a way in which we can't actually see in game. Thanks again.

Yeah it's bizarre indeed. I see it a security issue.. in this way nobody could get aura's that spread thru whole the map or harpoons that act like an AK47 because his rate might get too high.

..Atleast it is slowed in a way, you could always make those skills very high and still make big aura's but it would be a lot more efficient.

I like some more input on this from other players...

Umm, I might be wrong here but what I think he was asking it where the stats that people talk about being in the 1000's are on his character(s) which if he didn't play for long or did and still only got to 70 with godly gear his stats would be no where near the 1000's.

So all you need to do is open your character sheet and look at all those stats in the 400 to 700 range and those are the stats people are talking about being in the 1000's, I believe.

Umm. I think his question is a lot simpler than you guys think. Correct me if I am wrong...

He is asking how to see stats that are in the thousands... Meaning... He is looking at players like me and saying, "How the hell are their stats so high? Am I looking at the stat menu wrong?" No, you just need to get high level gear to get your stats into the thousands. Currently, you have gear(weapons & armor) that give stat boosts in the double digits. You need gear that gives stat boosts in the triple digits.

Is that what you are asking?

But what Boyjim is saying is true. After a certain point, the scaling for certain skills drop off, and requires you to put substantial amount of points into that skill, to receive a noticable increase.

Yeah, that's basically what I'm asking -- thanks Dramor and Ultima. I had no idea stat itemization was that high on the new gear. Yikes. I appreciate the help!
