So I have a 26% enemy damage str drain, and a 2.0 resist buff beam, does that mean my stuff in the beam takes 13% of the original damage? I wasn't able to find this in either the EV or monk forums, sorry if it has already been asked somewhere.

That is exactly right.
A tower on a 2.0 Resist Buff Beam will take 50% damage, so with a 26% drain that gets you to 13%.
Assuming all towers start off with 0% resists. I haven't found any that don't, but have not tested them all either.
No defenses have innate damage resistance.
And yes, Strength Drain and Buff Beam stack in this manner - Strength Drain is an effect which reduces the damage monsters deal, Buff Beam is an effect which reduces the damage defenses take. In the same way, Buff Beam + Initiate's Enemy Drain stack for increasing damage towers deal to monsters. (Whether that's useful depends on what you're doing - bosses are immune to Enemy Drain... but not Strength Drain, that works on everything)
I recall taking less damage from the Kraken's ball-of-death when he was underneath the Strength Drain Aura. It was his first attack on me and I was surprised because it seemed so weak.
I believe the double Kraken team on Boss Rush is also different compared to the single Kraken on Aquanos.
I have no real data to back this up, just my expereince.
The one on aquanos isn't affected by Str drains (checked on medium so I could survive a few hits). His spine missiles were doing 200 ish damage no matter where he was firing from.
I'm 90% certain the boss rush krackens are affected, as getting hit by the spines when they're outside the drains can nearly kill me but inside its just a tickle.
