Dungeon Defenders II game Status:
Make Pure Strategy Harder
Right now, pure strategy is a joke that wastes time while giving no real reward. Pure strategy should be, if anything, even harder than survival is, and give even better loot. But right now, no nightmare mobs (except spiders, but they are easy on their own.) spawn, and the main reasons why nightmare is supposed to be challenging don't really apply. Tower health and damage is SCALED UP and with high enough range the range nerf makes no impact whatsoever. Sure, you may not be able to repair, but with buff beams (and even without them, if the stats are good enough) it doesn't really matter. The loot that drops is unbelievably bad, making there really no reward other than the pet for sitting through a 3 hour pure strategy round. On top of this, there isn't even a mix mode for an extra challenge.
Here is what should happen to fix it:
- Add a box (the same place the box for hardcore mode is in regular survival) for nightmare mobs, which would start GOOD gear dropping. (and possibly allow the player to repair, though at a much lower casting rate and more mana.)
-Add a box for mixed mode that allows you to play mix mode, and slightly enhances drop quality.
-Possibly buff the mobs when both boxes are checked
This would also solve one major problem that alot of people have been complaining about; the progression of people from insane to nightmare, nightmare to shards nightmare, and shards nightmare to endgame maps. It would also provide a greater end-game challenge for players with high stats. And the nice thing is, the original pure strategy we have right now would still be playable as long as the player didn't check the boxes for nightmare mobs and mixed mode.
Agreed. Not only are most of the Shards enemies absent in Pure Strategy, all mobs seem to completely stop scaling up beyond a certain point. As a friend of mine has pointed out, Pure Strategy is currently an insult to any strategy-oriented player.

If they are there, I haven't seen them in 5+ hours of pure strategy runs. Its just annoying how pure strategy, which is supposed to be a more challenging take on survival, is soo much more easier than survival. Insane survival, even, is harder than nightmare pure strategy.
