Going to assume Portland, OR, not Portland, ME which would be a 3 day drive

I would LOVE LOVE LOVE to go, but of course, I live ALL the way on the other side of the US, therefore my parents do not want me to go... Same reason I missed Comic-con... *sigh*

I wanted to go. Looked for tickets in late May. Sold out. I was a sad psychedelic frog that makes SnakeChips think he is on acid.

I've still never been to either version of PAX, sadly. A convention of that sort was a dream of mine growing up; I've been a gamer for some 30 years. It only finally came along, sadly, once I stopped having the financial means to travel for such things. -_- When I was younger, I would attend the Chicago Summer CES every year (think of it as the predecessor to E3, before E3 actually existed.) Some of my oldest friends (and contacts in the industry) are producers and other employees from Capcom Osaka that I originally met at the CES in 1992. And oh man, comparing the Capcom of 1992 to the Capcom of 2012, unf. -_-

Speaking of which, in this day and age, I'd much rather attend PAX than E3 if given the choice. PAX has booths running moreso for indie developers and folks with projects that actually interest me. Whereas most of the "AAA" projects from the major publishing houses, the kinds you see everywhere at E3, couldn't interest me less. There are a few exceptions, most notably Borderlands 2, but that game is more like "the indie title that inexplicably and gloriously hit it big."

I will be there. I will be donning my armor made entirely from Magic: The Gathering cards, so I should be easy to spot. I will try and say hi!
