I can say that I currently have the game working just fine,
Can you actually make it through a full survival game without crashing? I'm not asking if you can always get through. I'm asking if you have ever, in your life, managed to finish a full survival match.

I'm crashing on startup with this stack trace:
    Exception Type: EXC_BAD_ACCESS (SIGBUS)
    Exception Codes: KERN_PROTECTION_FAILURE at 0x0000000000000008

After more thought, I realized that the HID might be a reference to my game pad. Turns out that after unplugging, I was able to start. I also did a full reinstall. I'll be reporting more after I finish finals this week.

I play solely under OSX. I am thinking of running bootcamp for the obvious improvements to the game, but have not installed windows yet.

Yes I have, not recently though. Not the full 20 waves. Only snippets of waves trying to pinpoint anything I can. As of the last week I have not been able to find time for a full survival match.

This should could likely be the problem. Because I have seen that most of those seem to do with audio and maybe you have installed and incompatible version of libvorbis which is getting loaded in place of the bundled (if there is a bundled version) or in place of the system installed version.

Nice theory, but no. All the libraries are either system libraries, bundled with Steam, or bundled with Dungeon Defenders. At least, that's what lsof is telling me.

Ok,interesting, and yeah HID and IOkit is definitely something to do with a gamepad.

And yes I have beaten survival many times, however it seems I am crashing now more so than ever. I can't seem to start Crystaline on Nightmare any more. Or get too far in survival anymore the game ends up glitching and I can't damage mobs, or it crashes.

More Mac fixes were added to patch notes and this is mega mac patch #2. There's a bunch of fixes that this patch goes with on the Mac and with these changes and the setting above a bunch of crashes are resolved. Such crashes as black screen on loading the game, lockup during the loading of movies, loading levels, and various just random crashing. This won't however fix some Mac crashing with Mountain Lion on older computers. We're still working on a solid fix for that issue but sadly no official time on when that may happen.

"Don't Use Multi-Threaded Renderer" option on the Mac will be under the GFX section however if you still have the no configuration issue you can edit this manually via instructions below. Try this out if you get crashes and just really bad unstable performance/gameplay.

    /Users/*username*/Library/Application Support/Steam/SteamApps/common/dungeon defenders/DunDef.app/Contents/Resources/UDKGame/Config

Mac-UDKEngine.ini and change bRendererUsesOneThread=False to True.

    Thanks Ice.

As of a few days ago I can no longer complete a map due to crashing.

Hopefully this new patch should fix it

Well, for the first time I managed to complete a full survival game, and then another right after it back to back, though:
*) I had the sound turned off.
*) It still crashes on startup if I have my gamepad plugged in.

So, it's finally stable for the first time. Is there any way I can "pin" this version, so if another patch breaks it, I'll still have this working version? Or is the only way to do that, to leave DD running or my network unplugged?

Ice, any idea if the fix you're talking about has any patches related to gamepads causing DD to crash on startup, or the libVorbis audio crash?

I can at least play, but not having sound is really sucking.

What gamepad are you using? And are you using and program to run said gamepad?

I use PS3 controllers and a program called GamePad (forgot the second word) and it runs a treat. I can only have one controller plugged in when I launch though, or it won't let me assign players properly though.

I'm using a 3in1 MagicJoyBox without any special program. It never worked in DD under MacOS and very few games see it. Frankly, I consider DD not seeing it to be reasonable, since MacOS has really crappy support for gamepads and joysticks. It's just annoying to have to unplug it to start DD, and then re-plug it in when done.

Hmm... I might look into that. Could you give me the full name?

Gamepad controller. Available in the Mac AppStore.

Edit: it's a great program, just ensure you only have one game pad connected when you launch and add in as many as you like whenever you want after it has loaded completely.
