Dungeon Defenders II game Status:
New Class: Former.
I had an idea that for a new class similar to the summoner, but instead of summoning the different mobs, you'd become the mobs yourself. It would be simple and the easiest weapon to have set up for this character would be a sword and then base the stats for the Mages, Archers, Warrior, Orc, Goblin and Ogre off a percentage of the sword itself.
Mage : You can summon up to 4 skeletons to fight at your side with the reduction of the your attack damage being 75% of that of your sword. As the Mage you will be able to heal towers as well as your allies. You're attack speed will be based off of 'Tower Casting Rate' as a mage. This will be divided into the projectile speed, the amount of shots per minute, and even a little bonus of multi-shots. Just as if it was a rod. The mage will also have reduced resistance as the skeletons will be focused upon more if he has them summoned. As the mage it will cost about 100 mana for one skeleton and each skeleton lasts until it dies. The health of skeleton will be based off of tower health.
More details if enough people find this interesting.
I think you may need to gather your thoughts just a little bit. I had an idea of making a shapeshifter that sounds pretty similar to what you're saying. Your 5 towers would actually be you changing into different forms.
It would be exactly like a shapeshifter, i just didn't really want to use that name.
I have ideas for the 5 towers being the different mobs i mentioned in my first post.
problem is, they arent rly towers, they are just minions that are modified that you control. We prolly should not have different versions of the same thing out on the battlefield, imo
For a moment read Farmer. Would be cool to have a class that does the farming for you....
Thought a bit more of how this would work, and I think I thought up some nice ideas.
What makes this class special-Combination of DPS and towers
Instead of placing towers the Former's towers transform him/her into a copy of enemy minions! Definitely have a much different look and color from enemies and summoner minions. When not transformed, he/she uses a monk weapon
The first form you get. Good running speed. While it's bite isnt too powerful, and it has small health, it's web attack could prove very useful. You will become unable to jump in this form
Left click: Bite
Right click: Web shot
The next tower would be the wyvern. Cannot move on the ground, but can fly above the mobs with ease, raining fireballs or swooping down to claw at your enemies.
Left click: Fireball
Right click: claw attack
Spacebar: Flight (holding makes you hover, jumping allows you to ascend up to 3 times)
Third, the djinn. Normal walking is really just floating above the ground. Can jump and hover for a bit, like the summoner. Shoots element bolts and can engolden towers! Engoldening acts as an upgrade, but takes a long time to engolden a tower, while you are completely vunerable. Damage interrupts engoldening as well. Can also only be used in combat phases
Left click: Fire elemental bolts
Right click: Engolden towers
Spacebar (hold): hover
4. Dark Elf Warrior
Speed through mobs like its nobody's business! Run, jump, and slice enemies with super-fast movements
Left click: slice combo
Right click: Run Dash
Spacebar: Leap (holding down longer results in higher jump)
See how the mobs enjoy being moved out of place! Punch the crud out of them, or just charge through them. Careful, if you hit a while while charging you will be an easy target
Left Click: Punch
Right click (hold and release): charge
6. Copter Ogre
Put on your flying hats, and become a dreaded copter ogre! Not any changes from a regular ogre, really, but you still get a nice hat!
Left click: Wide sweep, slam
Right click: Poison Ball
Ability 1: Transfusion
Can select certain towers, such as harpoons or magic missles, and fuse with them. Now you can aim them and shoot as you please. The Damage that towers recieve also damage you as well. The speed and distance of your attacks relies on the builders stats
I wanted to avoid using minions that the summoner uses, but I think I did pretty good here. All special nightmare enemies available, along with probably the 2 most fun ones.
Now, I was wondering how it would be balanced a bit. Perhaps mana slowly drains as a tower is in use? Perhaps a bit less than something like blood rage. Doesnt use DU. Its kinda like a Barbarian in a way, but it relies on towers for its DPS output.
These are my ideas that Im throwing out there :P
sounds interesting, but I think we need an extra class to use the Monk weapons xD
Like a... Shapeshifter class? Does that count as DPS, builder or Hybrid?
If you could shapeshift into all other characters as well, it could be everything.

I did post that I think the former could use monk weapons when not transformed. Transformations use up mana continuously, so you cant be transformed forever! would add a new build to forget transformations and go with hero stats and abilities as well
