Hello,
I quit DD a long time ago when survival dropped the best loot and everything was useless except traps and auras because of assassins doing too much damage. Is it still like that ? What's new ?

Dungeon Defenders II game Status:
Hello,
I quit DD a long time ago when survival dropped the best loot and everything was useless except traps and auras because of assassins doing too much damage. Is it still like that ? What's new ?
Wow, um, okay, let's begin.
Squire is now the superior builder, and the monk is now superior DPS, despite the release of the barbarian, which wields two swords/axes/hammers/etc. The barb cannot build, but can still be a GREAT source of DPS in the long-run, given its 5 different stances which either boost its speed, defense, damage, or healing.
Since then the Huntress and Apprentice have dropped severely in viability, but still good resources given limited Defense Units.
The Lost Eternia Shards started. This granted players NIGHTMARE mode, which basically was insane, except purple, and irrationally harder then you'd ever think. Getting into that is hard, but so worth it in the long run.
During this, the EV came out. She can summon walls and beams, but today, she's basically the replacement wall builder over the squire's barricades, as they have more health, and are better to use, due to the ability to stretch them out long distances.
The shards contains 4 newer maps, Mistymire, Moraggo, Aquanos, and Sky City. I won't spoil anything for you if you haven't seen anything about them, I'll leave you to find out for yourself.
A while before this, 4 new heroes sprung out, the opposite genders of our 4 heroes. Some with considerable health/damage ramp differences then their counterparts.
Adept = Apprentice
Countess = Squire
Initiate = Monk
Ranger = Huntress
Survival drops the best loot still, and since then has been made A LOT better.
If I missed anything, guys, please say it.. :P I'll leave whatever I missed either a spoiler alert or, yeah.
Edit: OHYEAH, the Jester is soon to come out, given a buff/debuff environment ability, tower moving concept, and crazy new abilities.
HOLYCRAP I forgot about the Summoner. The Summoner is a support class that can summon minions, ergo, the heroic counterparts of the mobs in-game. Ranging from archers, to orcs, to warriors, to mages, to spiders, to ogres. It's a great addition to the defense given the fact that it using a completely different set of DU, called Monster Units.
A long with this, multiple bonus maps were released, like Karathiki, known for its infamous size, and Talay, also known for its size and confusing layout!! It's fun though.
One thing about survival and doing it for mana or pet.
Once you have completed a level say 15,
you can in the future start any at lvl below that ie. lvl 14.
with a lot more mana to help you start out.
So this helped a lot if you get those random dc'ed or sudden crystal deaths, etc.
yup...
no, huntress/ranger are fighting summoner at the bottom of the dps ladder
lots of stuff...
- all of the QFTLES have been released - mistymire forest, moraggo desert town, aquanos, sky city and the crystalline dimension
- four alt hero costumes (one for each of the shard campaigns)
- four legendary hero costumes (the parents) for completing crystal dimension (a portal opens up after collecting all the shards)
- four super legendary her costumes (for completing above on NMHC)
- ultimate defender and related rewards: imposter tavernkeep skin (barb), 40 item box slots, new secret room and new crystal
- a host of holiday related DLC
- barbarian - melee DPS class, forfeiting towers for stances (affects its battle abilities)
- series EV - robot, able to switch between two weapons (can equip huntress or app weapons), extendable defences (longer beams = more DU+ more health), best waller, tower buff beams have replaced guardians
- summoner - uses a new resource pool (DU) to summon minions (crystal versions of mobs), can levitate without the use of a skin, equips two pets (both damage nerfed and no weapons)
- new class related maps - karathiki jungle, city in the cliffs and talay mining complex (for barb, EV and summoner respectively) each rewarding new pets (cowboy monkey, djinnlet and pet rock) for survival and alternate gender costumes for respective hero (amazon, bounty hunter and demoness)
- nightmare difficulty - incorporating mobs from each of the shard maps
spiders - web defences (slowing them and lowering resistance) and spawn all over the map (from exclusive spawns)
djinn - float along non conventional paths and have the ability to 'warp' (destroy) defences if left alone too long (gas immobalises them, archers interrupt them)
sharken - wind up before charging at defences, moving them out the way (you wanted that wall behind the crystal right?), pretty much same counters as djinn
copters - i HATE these things... they fly in (normally from wyvern spawns), follow unconventional paths (similar to djinn), shoot flares to distract towers, drop bombadier ogres past your defences and shoot super powered homing rockets (counters... kill them... thats pretty much it...)
wow... that took me like 15 minutes to type... half watching tv...
