Adding a strength drain aura at each wall will help greatly. Not only will it remove any elemental immunity (so fireball/lightning towers can hit more) it'll also allow your walls to last alot longer.

I guess my gear just isn't up to snuff, then. I tried magus quarters with this build by the second wave, but I had serious problems with goblin copters. The archers were powerful enough to drop the ogres in the lava, but they would usually get distracted by monsters in the other lanes, and so they would ignore the copters until they were close. I had to go after the copters on my own with my familiar, but it would often get distracted by nearby spiders, which stay alive long enough to be a nuisance (especially if the lightning turrets are busy elsewhere). I tried survival a few times but I was never able to make it past wave 9 and all I had to show for several hours of play were a few very lousy mythicals (all sub 30^). I guess farming wave 1 of ramparts, endless spires or halloween are the only realistic ways for me to progress now. It's a bit of a shame, as I was really enjoying this game up until I ran into the brick wall that is Nightmare mode.
That build looks like it should work. You could try removing all the bowling ball turrets and placing three deadly striker towers with a buff beam, instead of just the one. I will say, come to think of it, I remember spending a lot of time shooting at Copters with my Apprentice's staff weapon.
I wrote some of this guide before I got further into Nightmare, but didn't finish it until I'd completed the campaign on NM. There are a few things I'd been taking for granted and forgot to include as information. For one, I spent all my time behind my walls with a Genie on my Apprentice shooting everything in sight in order to get huge amounts of mana for upgrading everything (plus killing Copters and Ogres faster). Another thing I'd forgotten about specifying was to put walls just far enough away from your towers so that ogres will stand in front of the walls, looking stupid, while they try to figure out how to get to the towers to hit them. That way the walls rarely suffer any actual damage.
I think forges and foundries is probably easier then MQ - my friend who just started made it to I think wave 19 or 20 with no builder over 600 in a stat. I think he repeated it after putting on the upgrades, got one wave further.. etc. Also, the pets you get on wave 15 can have >200 building stats. The build he was using is something like..

Like alot of maps the first wave can be the trickiest part of starting NM, I usually start with the 5 archers using the starting mana. One in each side lane up near the crystal and the other 3 just below it, similar to...

Hi,
your thread really helped me out, but i´m still having problems. I bought the Spooktacular Halloween Map to get some Mana for upgrading my gear, but i just cant finish this map. At round 10 the minions are just crushing whatever defense i use.
My Stats:
Squire:
Towerstats: 400/874/781/716
Monk:
Herostats: 652 life /715 dmg / 939 heroboost and resists near to max
Is there any other map to get money, or are the stats of my builder just too low?
Would be thankful for any help![]()
As of yesterday I would say that the best map for starting nightmare is "Bonus: The King's Game", really awesome loot, awesome experience, and simple/easy
I just did this on each crystal, with a line of archers on the tower buff, and was able to take it to Wave 30. Got 43 trans and 1 sup along the way.
Even on Campaign mode got really nice myths. Much nicer than Halloween or anywhere else, and muh easier IMO
Thanks to you danielsound, i tried the new map, and could finish it once. Then the game patched and the map was fixed. Now i cant even make it past the first wave. Any other ways to farm mana items or any help whats wrong? Are my stats to low or am i just too dumb?^^
That's bad to hear ;[ I was expecting that map to be that easy for good. It would be a nice way to break new players into nightmare.
Well, I used to do something very similar to it on Throne Room, and take it to wave 25. Some nice myths and even some trans drop after wave 20.
I usually start on wave 20 with 4 players (Summoners so only drops armors), leave one or two with Imp pets in the middle, go AFK, and when I come back it's wave 25, I have 600 mil on my hands. So I gather all the loot from the floor and make extra 175 mil selling back on the tavern and start again.
If you're feeling not so confident you can throw in some archers

If you have aura monk and EV this thread is very helpful for finishing Spooktacular and the mana is very good: http://forums.trendyent.com/showthre...ming-Mythicals
I have problems comparing my gear to items on the battlefield because most of my gear is fully upgraded. I don't trust the thumbs up / down system because it sometimes say that an item where every stat is beneath my current stats and has less upgrade levels is better.
I just got a mythical seahorse from aquanos, but I don't think it's that impressive.
By the way, gear from custom maps seems to be CRAP. I got an Ultimate Staff from "The Forsaken Undercroft" but I think it's too weak to be one of the most powerful weapons in the game.
EDIT: I just did Wave 18 and 19 of Aquanos on Insane Hardcore and that Seahorse is far better. Thanks for the advice!
