Graphical Error with Seahorse on Halloween Spooktacular?

I recently purchased a seahorse (my first experience with one, I haven't had the chance of testing with other seahorses) and on the Halloween Spooktacular challenge I keep getting these blotches of flickering black on my screen.







Putting the seahorse back into the item box during combat stops the black spots. It doesn't happen when it's not attacking, and it doesn't happen on the tavern dummy. I have tried other maps and challenges such as Ramparts and I don't get the black spots, so far it seems to be only on this map. I've never had this issue before as I have been farming this map for a while now; only thing new is the seahorse.

Verifying integrity of game cache hasn't helped, and all my drivers are up to date. ATI, if that helps at all.

I can't help, but I can confirm identical issues - also using seahorse, and this is the only map on which it happens; also only when seahorse is out and currently attacking. It can make it completely impossible to tell what's ahead of me, and for a lowish-level character barely able to tackle nightmare, that has led to more than a few very cheap deaths.

Seems to occur regardless of gfx settings (lo/mid/hi), I have updated directx and video card drivers, and it's definitely not my computer being too fail to play DD - suffice it to say I go beyond minimum/recommended requirements. Given how much I enjoy this particular map otherwise, it'd be amazing to have this fixed.
