Thread: Progression Gap

You may want to get your EV and Summoner up to 74 and equip Myth gear on them. Buffbeams, walls and summons make every map so much easier. Getting your monk's stats up should be your priority after that, as auras are a great help in most cases. Your squires stats should be fine for nightmare. Take a look at doing the Halloween Spooktacular challenge on Nightmare HC, as I've previously posted:

The main advantage with this is that there are no enemies from the shards maps, making it (in my opinion) much easier than any campaign map on nightmare. It also only takes around 10 minutes to setup and finish, which is about how long it'd take to do 2 or 3 Endless Spires first-wave runs. On those Endless Spires runs, you'd be lucky to get 3 myths per run - so 9 myths max for 10 minutes work? Take a look at the screenshots on that post I linked to - thats 30+ myths from 1 wave alone. You also get the myth-level class weapon for finishing the map, which would help increase your stats.

I've been playing the game since it came out (literally), and the highest I've ever hit was 1600 in one stat. Tell me your secrets T_T

    Random,

Please enlighten me here. How is it a matter of "laziness" that people who cannot beat nightmare to unlock survival aren't farming nightmare survival? Not trying to be a jerk, I'm genuinely curious as I've seen this mentioned countless times. How can one be expected to farm NM survivals without being able to unlock NM survival? Or are you suggesting that "proper" progression is having to be carried by the folks who came before?

This is good advice, plus if it were me I'd swap the gear from your tower squire to your summoner (once lvl 74) as that will provide a big tower damage output gain if you shift you builds towards a strat that puts emphasis on minions.

Also with regards to your barb dps damage, run sky city on insane (not even hc). The steam saws you get as a reward (using squire/countess/barb) can easily double or triple your dps. In fact even a 100^ steam saw can be better than most swords with twice as many ups.

Only spiders, actually. And they're fairly trivial.

Unless Trendy changed this since I last played the map.

Do what you like to do. If i read a guide, and it tells me to do some insane late wave survivals, I dont do them. I thinks its boring to do that kind of stuff. So I look around more and see a thread about endless spires. So I play endless spires and notice how the map has changed since all those shards maps. The map got very hard. Early, shards 1-2 there wasnt even 1 ogre. With the addition of the sharken, there was 1 sharken +1 orge. Now, there is 1 ogre, 3 sharken at every lane + 2 djinns. And it wasnt easy to beat that. But it was FUN! And thats the most important thing about this game. FUN! If your bored of that map, try doing oasis monsterfest on easy. Its all about keeping a variation of stuff and trying something until you beat it. The only way to progress. Even now with my high stats, I sometimes do Alch labs Nm HC MM which is a pretty easy money making map and can sometimes provide some upgrades for my gear in late waves. All about keeping the FUN. Thats my secret

iphex, you've registered on the forum a long time ago so people calling you out on your "I'm only playing for a week" actually do have a point. That said for most people farming nightmare over and over again to eventually be able to buy something from someone's shop that might get you banned isn't fun.
Shops actually defeat the purpose of collecting gear yourself and are insanely expensive by now. And for most people doing the first two waves of a map to start all over again isn't much fun either and that can only happen if they beat the map on nightmare before. Something that's fairly unlikely if they're just wrapping up insane.

I'll guess you got a free ride from insane to nightmare in someone else's game. I actually used to help other people by running nightmare stuff I didn't need anymore so they could make the jump. But that isn't much of an accomplishment or something to boast about.

So, I've been gone a long time. Left last December, just came back when a friend bought me the DLC combo on the Steam sale. I've had a lot of negative things to say about Trendy's design and balance decisions. Most of those opinions haven't changed.

However, I don't have an issue with the current progression. I'm working my way from Insane to Nightmare right now, figuring out where to go and what to do to make it happen. Glittering Caverns Insane Survival Hardcore is dropping me my first Mythic loot. I've done exactly one late-wave Insane Hardcore Alchemy Lab run to get the giraffe. Today is the first time I've ever stepped into Insane Glittering. I'm finding gear that, with a couple runs and a bunch of mana, should get me into the 600s range and let me go after harder content with better drops.

The one big problem with this path, is it is not made very clear. I've had to sort it all out myself, as no one on the forum talks about the path from 200s to 600s. Thing is, I've been progressing by tackling things I haven't done before. Finish everything on Insane, do everything on Insane Survival, farm up some giraffes from the same, that sort of thing. Moving from this into Nightmare will be the most unclear, but anyone that's played through all the difficulties should be able to recognize that they won't find upgrades on the early campaign maps.

If you're able to beat Ramparts on NM, then progress doing the Ramparts survival until you can reach end wave. I've farmed very good starter Myth armor there (stuff with 100+ in 2+ stats, close to 100^) in the later waves.

For a good tower pet, honestly the best thing to do is farm Insane Aquanos Survival HC. Insane will drop Myth seahorses, and occasionally a Trans seahorse. I've gotten a couple of Myth seahorses from Insane Aqua Surv HC that spawned with +300 in the tower attack stat, and very low negatives in other tower stats.

Given that I've not re-run Ramparts since the intro of the Goblin Copters (other than to beat campaign on NMHC) I cannot speak to its loot quality now.

One thing I will tell you, is to make note of drops that occur that you can sell in your own AFK shop. Super stated Godly items are worth keeping and selling for 500K or so. Starter myth consisting of a couple or more stats with 100+ in usable categories (hero or tower atk, hp; tower range and rate) will sell if priced fairly......not any of this 50^ with stats around 50 crap that I see in shops for 60mil.
