Dungeon Defenders II game Status:
I think a better solution would be to make it so that duplicated items don't disappear.
Locking the items would mean that if u miss the event that you have no chance of ever getting to have it.
Though if you can lock an item to an account is it possible that you could make it so that your account saves event weapons to an online save file...kind of like your ranking in an online shooter, so that the player has no access to the save involving the event item?
That way u can still trade but can't duplicate it.
I just realized that locking the items wouldn't be possible. Our hosts wouldn't be able to drop the items. The event item would be like the Chicken.
Perhaps something like "self detonating" items. Ones that would start of OP but degrade over time until it's essentially worthless. Literally becomes a trophy after a few months. Pretty but useless. There would be no way to duplicate something like that because it will still have the "internal" clock ticking and all of those event items will lose their OP stats at the same time.
This mechanic would also limit the comparison of new event items to old ones. It's always starting from scratch and you never have to worry about out-doing yourself in the future because the new event items will ALWAYS be better than the old ones... for a few months at least.
I don't know if that's possible as I'm sure it would take a patch or 2 to write that code into the game. Or maybe it would be impossible to write.
Just throwing out ideas.
Cmon....99%?
