Joining Games on Maps you dont have

Before these patches (i dont know in which one this changed), you could join a players game with a map you didn't have as long as the Host did. (I recall several friends joining MM survival runs when they didnt have the map). I just came back to the game after a break but I kept buying the DLC, my friend however did not.

Now, if I have selected Sky city or any map he doesnt have, he cant even join my games unless I switch the map. If he's also on my game and then I later try to go onto a map he doesnt have, he gets kicked too.

First question is: Is this intented? I liked that you didnt HAVE to own the map in order to play it.
Second Question: When was this changed if it was intented?

If this is intented, I'm sorry if this was addressed in a previous patch notes thread or something, as I mentioned, i havent been here for some months.

    Thank you for your time.

It seems my friends did have MM, but not HC mode, I guess you're right, but still; endgame content is from shards only, wouldnt it be fair to let friends partake on your adventure?

If they didn't buy the DLC, no.
