Stuck - What to do from here

So, I've been playing DD for several months (I actually got it originally on the PS3 only as it looked like a kids game to me and my kids wanted something to play ) and thoroughly enjoying it. I have played TD games for many years, but this of course offers a new dimension on the genre.

I have several characters up to what I think is decent levels and decent stats, but I am miles away from the late survival waves of the hardest maps that I need to really get the gear I want. There is nothing in AFK shops I can really buy that improves much for my better characters now, and I don't have hundreds of tokens that seem to change hands for the top gear.

I feel I'm doing something wrong, I mostly play solo (cant seem to get any decent co-ordination with random online players tbh), my best solo is Misty Survival Wave 20.

Any suggestions? I play a fair bit and feel the builds are pretty good after some trial and error, but Im getting bored of magus 20-25, alchemy 20-25 just for mana. I wanna be beating Karathi and Aqua Survival at latter waves.

My suggestion would be to turn a huntress and get monk into tower build form then you will be able to do more trial and error and start working your way up to being bale to do Karathiki and Agua survvials. Doing the camapign levels with two builders is easier then doing the other two.

You may need to do some more grinding for tower characters have fun it takes a while or more so is just annoying.

Get an aura monk and a trapper and you'll be able to beat any map out (hmm, maybe not talay)

My DPS Monk was a tower monk, I respecced it and swapped all the gear to DPS as I only had 1 DPS character. I couldn't really get decent use out of the auras, maybe not using them properly.

Auras and traps are key in the newer NM content. Ensare/Drain/Lightning auras provide very good trash clearing while also reducing damage to your walls. Gas traps provide a hard counter to sharks/genies. Proxies and darkness traps can be very helpful when used correctly as well.
