    Crash on Start Screen

Been a while since playing Dungeon Defenders and wanted to play again, whenever I start my game I get to the start screen (or just before it) and it goes to black screen before dundefgame.exe has stopped working. I've tried all the steps in the FaQ that I am aware of, renamed the exe since I am running off the D:/ Drive (even installed a copy of steam and DD on my C:/) , downloaded the registry files... etc

    Running: Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit ; Intel(R) Core(TM) i7 CPU 950 @ 3.07GHz (8 CPUs), ~3.1GHz ; 6144MB RAM ; DirectX 11 ; Nvidia GeForce GTX 460 version 301.42

I'm up for any help/info/advise to get this fixed, I'd like to play again

Have you tried verifying your game cache?

    1: Open your steam library
2: Right click Dungeon Defenders (http://i.imgur.com/UyPCa.jpg)
    3: Click properties (http://i.imgur.com/JvLz2.jpg)
    4: Click local files (http://i.imgur.com/TO5wC.png)
5: Click verify integrity of game cache (http://i.imgur.com/IZDGD.png)

Just incase you moved the data location to another in Steam.

Check to make sure your anti-virus isn't blocking the program from launching as that is a usual cause as well.

I have, normally gets 1 file regardless but this time it got 5 but still crashes at the same point.

I did have avast but I have it disabled at this time, no other anti-virus or firewall software running

Bumping up just to post that I was finally able to fix and get the same to start, don't even know why this worked but, since I play with headphones I'm guessing it either the game or how windows 7 works did not like that it was set to a 16 bit 8000 Hz format. Switched it to my monitors speakers at 16 bit 44100 Hz and I was able to load up and get into game fully.

If anyone Has a similar issue and running Windows 7 64-bit (probably works with older windows), goto the speaker icon in your taskbar and right click > Playback devices > Select the sound output you are using and click properties > Advanced Tab > and change your default format, I set mine to the lowest right away and it worked may need to play with it.

Hope this information is helpful to anyone else having the same issue I did
