Hi guys/girls/staff,
I'm hoping someone can give me some good suggestions in regard to ogres.
Me and my wife have been playing nightmare hardcore survival for a while now (just beat the Kraken last night on NM).
One thing I just can't figure out is how to progress past the ogres shoving the EV walls.
Tonight, two ogres shoved the walls into scenery - we managed to kill them off (even with their 20m hp) and they took down about 20/30% of the crystals' health.
Personally I don't mind swapping heroes to build whatever is best - I have 4 toons over level 74, 3 over 78 and one on 83.
I just can't get it into my skull what's the good of having walls with 250K hp manage to only sustain 10k damage before being shoved into nearby scenery by an ogre. How are you supposed to progress if your walls can't take a punch?
Also, trying to rebuild the EV walls I noticed the nodes of a buff beam and EV wall can't intersect if the buff beam is laid down first - otherwise it's fine (hence buggering up your original layout if you have to 'move' your walls).
Anyone got any suggestions regarding our little ogre problem or how to place the EV walls that they won't budge when an ogre hits them?
I have read the forums and some are of the opinion that you need to create an air tight seal (when it turns from red to green), others believe it only really happens when the walls aren't flat on the floor.
Personally, I think it's just people trying to make sense of a bug that inherently stops progression on nightmare (seeing you can't 'tank' the harder waves because ogres get bored and shove the walls if they have to hit the wall more than twice).
Squire walling is an alternative - but not a viable option when ogres have 20 million+ hp - you need that DU to build other defenses to manage the other 1290+ mobs.
Aquanos - EV vs Squire walling example
Middle crystal: 5 DU (EV) 9 DU (Squire)
Bottom/Right Crystal: 8 DU (EV) 15 DU (Squire)
Total: 21 DU (EV) - 39 DU (Squire)
Difference: 3 harpoons' worth DU
*Apprentice walls break in 3/4 shots of an ogre in NM under a strength drain on those waves - with 1k tower hp.
