Item Dissapearing

Hosted a game and went to drop items to switch gear between characters as usual (in a level) have done this many times before and the item just Miraculously disappeared... Really is heart wrenching because of the time and effort put into getting the item... Not sure what had went wrong or why it has happened. But now our main builder is missing a core item piece... Really sucks...

With the way our gear system works in levels, this is a rather dangerous thing to do. Maybe it's best to farm gear for all of your characters instead of passing gear between your characters. And it'll save you time in the long haul.

Yeah figured that out now, or pass it in the tavern. Is there anyway way to recover the item? or SoL?
From Years of diablo you could say it was a bad habit ^^.

If not a guess it was a lesson learned.

Unfortunately, we won't be able to recover the item.

Eventually will get something again.
