I agree with the OP and I would like to see a toggle for this as well (especially if we are going to toggle the announcements of what baddies are spawning, which I think is kinda silly). If the idea was to "customize the aesthetic," as many of you are saying, a major part of customization is NOT DOING WHAT EVERYONE ELSE IS DOING! There are several million variations on color scheme and what... 20 different masks?

To say "don't wear it if you don't like it" is basically a strawman because you are losing out of stats. That would be like not wearing that new Supreme item you got because it simply doesn't match the color of your shoes. It's an item with better stats, you're going to wear it. Why such a backlash against asking for a customization option? Wasn't customization the point of this venture?

Frankly, I got the PA skins because Tycho kinda looks like me and he's a lover of words. Why would I want to then cover his face? Adding a toggle is helping to ensure future skin dlc sales.

I totally agree, some of the mask totally throw off the whole theme to the costume my characters are wearing. I would love to be able to hide them without losing the stats they provide. Visual customization of my character is one of my favorite features in most games i play and i would love to have this option implimented if at all possible.

The concept of every little bit helps almost applies. If you get 20 points for attack from an accessory then that is 20 points on some other piece of gear that doesn't have to be in attack.

The two larger issues then that though are that it's only 20 points, and accessories came with stats only because it was easier to make them that way. It seemed like they were only planned as cosmetic gear at first. I didn't expect them to come with any stats. The fact that they have stats is just a bonus.

So like other people said, either find a different accessory that looks better, or don't wear them. Hiding them just isn't the way.

All that said, I don't think it would hurt if they could have used some slighty better ideas for accessories. Gas masks, ninja masks, gloves instead of just bracers. Wing and backpack variations for characters that don't already have things on their back. Other hero unique items then just shield for Squire/countess, like maybe a spell scroll for apprentice, and a quiver for huntress.

Agree with the OP here, I never use accessories because they don't fit the theme of the character or it's outfit. And I don't mind to get a "Clutter"-tab in options menu. Tons of Games have some kind of a cluttered menu, why not dungeon Defenders too?

While every little bit helps, if an accessory looks out of place, try to find one that doesn't.
No mask is going to look good on the apps vamp outfit, because the mask goes through the hat.
This is the stuff i'm talking about why we want to hide the odd item.

The UI is cluttered only because everything is written in a freaking massive font. A normal sized front and checkboxes would reveal that the UI doesn't have that many options at all.

Hell, a dropdown list would solve this too. You know, like how there isn't a dropdown list for screen resolutions. THAT's clutter. But hey, it's an easy way to cover up that DD only really has 2 graphical options to configure.

    Agree with OP.
I miss the mermaid face, and want the stats : (
It's really hard to give us an option?
If we can't see the armor, why we must see the accessories?

Next people will say the don't want to see the weapon or pet...

Totally disagree with OP. If you want the stats, wear the stuff. It's not that bad.

Armor has never been visible. It would make all characters look the same if they did.

The UI wont be cluttered if the checkboxes are in the Options menu. It's not something you're gonna be using every day, it doesn't need to be that easily accessible as long as it exists.

I agree with OP, if they're gonna have stats then they're not purely aesthetic and we should be able to hide them. I've seen accessories with 4 stats and 13 upgrades, that's 17 total to one stat. Since I've barely played at all lately I'm sure the 5 accessories I've picked up so far are far from the best I can find. Combine 4 of these items together and you have an additional 68 points to a stat, I'm still thinking the potential is far greater than that. Now, it may not be 680 but it sure as hell aint nothing.
