I've had that happen when entering other player's taverns but I've never known the cause. Only maybe one or two times has it bugged out and I've had to reload. It's been in the game for a long time.
This happens to me about once every dozen times I join an AFK shop. I log in and get a gong sound like time ran out on a challenge, die and respawn. It's happened to me since AFk shops were introduced.
This is not an issue for patch notes. This is a tech support issue. Please post there in future.

I came out of the bathroom ( I do some of my best thinking there ) and realized I may actually have some useful feedback regarding the issue
It did happen to e once when I joined a game at Level 0. I assume level 0 has no player hp. And I assume the tavern is just another map like all other maps. So, MAYBE, somewhere in the cybercode there needs to be added something like:
if (player.Health <=0) (or < 1)
if game.Map != game.Maps.Tavern)
player.die()
else
//move on nothing to see here
I dunno, just a newb, may the info will help ... :/
My tower countess says that might be a case, but not always why it happens.
