    Map Evaluation - newbie kinda

After reading through the posts here, clearly I picked up this game late... I'm still learning the basic strategies - heck, I only recently realized that I could change characters in between waves!

I've been messing around with map creation (very cool site) and wanted to see if this would be a decent build:

    Thoughts?

Squire - level 30 with all stats in 30s
App - level 25 with all stats nearly 30
Monk - level 17 with all stats in teens
Rogue - level 16 with all stats in teens

Wanted to get a post out - in the meantime, I'll be reading through some of the stickies / guides.

    Thanks!

actually its not bad, but if you want to level up play ramparts its easy and fast make sure you play it on insane, i would level up your squire first to like 70 and get a good tower builder like my stats are 122 th, 401 td, 88 tr, 101 tar. hope this helps also after you level up tower go for a dps character ( huntress or apprentice )

To be honest, I don't like it. It'll work for you now because I'm sure you're playing lower difficulty settings. But once you play insane and have 100+ coming from the right side (The middle right with just one Harpoon tower) with 5000hp, those two towers alone won't do much. Especially once the boss spawns.

And the two Slice and Dice towers to the south had no supporting towers. Slice and Dice towers are good but are vulnerable to ranged attacks/suicidal Kobolts. I really like a good combo between Traps, Squire Towers, and a few Monk auras.

Dunno if you're on Xbox or PSN but if on Xbox I'd be happy to assist you whilst you make a build more effective for your strategy. Either by letting you make it up through trial and error or if you'd like some tutoring lol.

First welcome to game - it is never too late - & you found the forums ( your off to a really good start )

Your layout will work for now - as a single profile builder (squire)
And you maybe able to host a few people. / If you can get a auras they will help considerably. Ask the people your playing with if they have a monk most will gladly help you build. You lose 2 Defense units for 1 snare / But snares don't kill monsters so you still get all XP from your squire towers doing the killing.

here is a more advanced layout

If you want to stay with an all squire method of sticks/stones/blades and blugeoning of monsters. I think you would gain 4 more harpoons with I think 2 du's to spare.

    psn = coyotewolfdog

It's not a bad layout but I don't know how it would fare on insane. My only suggestion would be moving the 2 southern SnD's further up the path (top of second staircase). In the current location it may allow archers to shoot at the southern crystal from the landing between staircases.

changed it a little. Your build isn't fail-proof but on easy-medium it can last.

    Thanks for the feedback guys

The only insane map that I have tried (and won) was the first map - found that the time limitation for building in between waves quite challenging.

I'm enjoying the single player aspect right now, but will definitely join in on the multi-experience down the road.

Unfortunately, I don't have much time to play - only a map or two at night. Tried Royal Gardens last night on normal mode, but lost because I didn't accurately predict which direction the wyverns were coming from.

Here is what I have learned from you guys and searching through the forum:
    * Trend my characters towards specific builds like tower or dps focus
    * Mix up the tower / map builds with complementary defenses instead of using just a single character

I believe that this game has outstanding purchase value - only $15 with loads of playing time and diversity.

    Thanks again!

It's a pretty good setup for starters. Welcome to the community!
