From the poll results most people don't mind the large updates. I get great speeds on them, much better than some other things I dl. It's never been an issue for me.
To summarize the technobabble:
It would be possible to make the patches smaller, but it would probably require changes both from Steam and Trendy, and Trendy could spend that time fixing actual bugs IN the game instead, which *I* like better. Then again, I don't have a download limit.![]()
They might solve this by using there own patcher when starting the game![]()
Please don't give them ideas. They can't even implement the Steam matchmaking API properly so it doesn't boot us from our own hosted games when there's a minor routing issue on the internet (which if you know anything about TCP/IP is a regular and expected occurance). Steam delivers patches very well, the only issue is with the size of patches which is Epic's fault for how they designed the Unreal 3 environment.
How they could 'solve' it is testing the release before release so we don't have to suffer 3 updates in the 2 days following the DLC release rather than blindly releasing & waiting for the people who pay for the privilege of beta testing (aka customers) to find their issues for them.
But what do I know?
