Why do people want frost blades?

It seems like people want frost blades above all else, I was just wondering if there is something special about them. I'm currently using a vanguard on my squire, it is pretty large and gets 120 damage per up.

Is there a special reason I should save mana and buy a frost blade or keep dumping it into my current weapon?

1. They're rare to get with decent stats.
2. They're extremely fast!

I got 2 good ones drop for me, 254 and 253^ :P

Not Realy the place but because while still big they are very fast and do high damage per hit.

1. Like he already said they re rare + they attack fast
2. If you get a long ranged 1... Then its like a shild or a backstabber with longrange
3. Best dps after backstabber I guess, but not sure about it.
4. Got a question too , are there some weapons for other races too, which are extremly strong & rare? Till now i guess best weapon for huntress = retri, monk = the scythe.

Oh ok, weapon speed. I thought all large weapons were slow. My mistake.

Best damage:speed ratio I've seen, also can get great sizes, not sure if they get any bigger than other weapons though

It's the 2nd best weapon type for countess/squire (dunno for barb), under the greatsword.
