Graphics stutter once I enter a game.

I was wondering if there is a way to fix this problem? The minute I enter a game my graphics begin to stutter and move super slow! I have:

AMD Phenom II X4 965 CPU
12 GB Kingston RAM
ASUS GTS 250 DK Video Card
64 bit Windows 7 OS

Anyone have any ideas? I've tried clearing the cache defragmenting the files, and even verifying but everytime I verify the files it keeps saying it has 2 files to download? Could that be the problem?

The files being downloaded are just the config files, if you change any of the settings Steam redownloads the default settings.

As for Stuttering, that could be any number of problems..

a RAM issue, Graphics Driver crashing, problem with the GPU itself, so on..

i take it youve tried rebooting to try to fix it?

Also, you installed the AMD files when you installed the game right?

Updating your DirectX may fix the problem, but its a possibility not an absolute fix.
