Aura Quality as a Separate Setting

The only thing that makes me lag in DD are the monk auras. I have a great GPU, and a constantly high framerate, except when auras come into my frustrum.

This problem has been reported numerous times, as numerous threads point out. (I can link at least 10 of them if it makes my point stronger).

Patch 7.08 made auras playable in low graphics settings. But I don't want low graphics, I want high. I can run it and so can others with killer GPU's. It's just the auras that are unoptimized and slowing us down.

Can we please get a separate option for aura quality? Just a checkbox that passes a boolean to the shader, c'mon devs, it's not that hard. It would make playing DD much more enjoyable.

Are you saying this with development knowledge at hand, or just putting some words together claiming it's easy?

    Just curious

Depends what you mean by development knowledge. I am a programmer, and I have worked on game projects before. I have never developed explicitly with Unreal Script or modded Dungeon Defenders specifically, but I have used UI elements and passed values to shaders in numerous situations. This is really not such a complex issue on the programming side, I believe. Yet again, Trendy's implementation might differ from what I'm used to, so don't take my word for it.
