Struggling with solo

Hi all,

I'm trying to level up a solo char and unfortunately I'm not doing very well I can finish the first map on hard without any problems. On the 2nd map I fail even on medium due to the stupid ogre. I tried sealing off the stairs as well as sealing off the 3 choke points right next to the crystal. But it's always the ogre that smashes my walls and towers to pieces and then rips the crystal apart

My current stats:

Hero: 3/0/1/9
Skills: 6/0
Towers: 4/24/13/14

What shall I do against that ogre? Do I need much more levels and should first play on easy? But I guess I should be able to solo at least on medium, shouldn't I?

Have you tried the first board on hard or insane?
Also if you hate ogers try alchemy labs...no oger there unless you do nightmare

Yes, the first map (without the ogre) is no problem on hard at all. I haven't cleared it on insane yet but since I have my layout I guess I should be able to manage that as well (may try later).

Insane is worth so much more XP you can get alot of levels fast. Then go campaign running and try to get to the end. All your future characters you will be able to level up in glitter using your casters towers.

I will also send you my steam ID in case you are still having trouble. I can get you from 0 to 70 in 20min.
I reccomend you do it yourself as you will learn in the proces. But if you are truely stuck I can run you to 70 in just a few min.

That's very nice of you, but I want to do it on my own. I gladly get tips and hints of course, but to be pushed would be kinda like cheating. Also I fear I would miss the learning of the abilities and pros/cons of the towers, which is IMHO an important part of the leveling process.

Nevertheless, the offer is really nice and appreciated.

Depending upon the lay out, ogres can get snagged on the barricades and buy you some extra time, you can place them like

or you can place the barricades like > > > to stick them even further.

Think Layers...

Remember what Shrek said? Ogres have Layers.

with a bit of space in between them, and have the towers on the sides to dps them down. Also, you can place towers on the side railings (spikes). If you get inventive between waves, you can find all sorts of nifty places to put towers, alot of times, the ogres will not even attack them.

Also, if you attack the ogre with your hero, he will usually go after you, you can run around just out of his melee range while the towers dps him down.
