Thread: Hard vs insane survival

Even if I got one twice as good I wouldn't like the stats. I'm assuming that the difference between hard and insane rewards are significantly different while insane and nightmare are not vastly different. My reasoning for this is that from boss rewards hard and insane are different while insane and nightmare are the same. Could do hard and waste time to get a pretty bad pet or I could do insane and get an almost nightmare quality pet.

Well I don't know about hard pets or rewards on any map; but there can be a significant difference in pet quality between insane and nightmare. For example the 299^ seahorse I got on NM HC also has +465 to hero atk plus something similar to abilities 1 & 2 (use him on my booster monk). While the best seahorse stats from Insane HC have been just a bit over 300 in 1 or 2 stats & 200s in the others - but the ones that I got with great stats didn't have high ups. The Insane HC seahorses with high ups (168 & 241) both have ok stats but nothing in the 300 range or close.

I've gotten over 100+ Insane HC seahorses and typically get a decent one every 10 to 15 on average. On NM HC I've gotten over 50+ seahorses and have only gotten 3 that I've kept. The vast majority seem to end up with a huge neg or 1^ ( I assume from roll over or some such technical reason ). But the good ones from NM HC are total beasts. In addition to the 299^ one, I've gotten a 263^s with high starting base that I can't remember what is was off hand which also had both hero health and hero attack in the mid-400s, hero speed and cast in the mid-200s, and abilities (200s on one and 300s on the other). But also alot of 53 mana rejects.

So my plan that I followed was to load up my toons with insane version seahorses, and then as I farmed NM HC I would replace them with worthy ones from nightmare. Just takes alot of time due to the rejects - even starting at wave 18 with 3 toons out.

Next time I get ingame - I will make a couple of runs on hard hc to see what is there (w/ 3 toons out) to get a better sample set to improve my knowledge about the drop differences.

But yeah - when playing NM getting a seahorse from insane hc is definitely a game changer (at least it was for me), and then getting a better one from NM itself is even more so.

This was the best seahorse I got from insane HC so far, haven't seen one better out of nightmare yet.

Granted my data sample for each difficulty is around 50, so its not exactly huge. I would be curious to see how good the hard HC ones can get, since I think the non-quality level 70 ones are the lowest level req they get.

Dayum... Now we know how they thought when they named the difficulty insane

One of the ones from hard hc (40^) compared to one from nm hc (1^ but nice stat stick) http://cloud.steampowered.com/ugc/91...6F0F118705E1B/

The best one of three from hard hc (80^) compared to one from nm hc (299^ but looking at it - it must have only had approx. 2200 base dmg to start with) http://cloud.steampowered.com/ugc/91...24A607F559112/

Hawsomeic's best seahorse (btw congrats on that one - dayum is the right word for that one) is easily on par (or better depending on the stat combination you are looking for on a toon) with the best I've gotten from NM HC.

Of the three from Hard HC they all had approximately the same starting base dmg (7xx) with ups ranging from 40 to 80. The stats probably can go to 100+ but I've only did 1 run (keyboard w/ 2 wired for 3 toons out to get 3 pets) and the ones I saw did not break the 100 mark. My sample size is non-existent to determine what the best is. But for Insane, if you add up Hawsomeic's 50 runs (1 pet each?) and my runs (actually 40+ runs w/ 3 toons out - say 120 pets) then the best of out 170 pets is the one Hawsomeic has shown. Granted it would be better if the sample size were at least 1,000 pets but his may be the best anyway (i.e. just like my 299^ seahorse; I got it on my very first run in nm hc and haven't gotten a better one yet with regards to ups/base for a dps pet).

It's either more runs to get a better sample set or get my bottom in gear and start reading the DDDK to see what kind of modifiers / factors are applied on seahorses within each difficulty setting. Of course the actually distribution curve of stats/dmg/ups and the impact that roll over causes makes that last one a bear in decphering that end result.

i have done a lot, like, a whole lot, of nightmare aquanos runs. i have never once gotten a seahorse that is worth using. negative stats abound, low levels, you name it, it is always true. sure, i *probably* can get a better pet from nightmare, but if i want a monkey, seahorse, djinnlet, or cat, im going with insane. its easier and there is less likelihood of horribad stats. even doing the original maps, i dont even both with running them for pets (unless im just doing endless spires over and over), because it is almost guaranteed that 30% of the stats will be hugely negative. and i mean, they all suck anyway. like the robot that does 10% less damage in NM than it does on insane...

The 50 I stated was somewhere between 15 and 20 runs with 3 afks out. Occasionally I would forget to load them up, so I was guessing with 50 - lol. I've had a mixed bag of luck with nightmare pets, recently I sold I think 7 prop cats, which were the pick of the litter of 15 runs x 4 chars each, once again a small sample size, but the variation was immense. The boosts were ranging anywhere from 30 to 130, ups were between 1/1 and I believe 254 was the highest I got, alot of them in the 100's range. I did initially try about 5 runs on NM but none of the cats dropped with higher then 100 boost, so I gave nightmare a spin. I may go ahead and try to get a larger sample size for nightmare, I was actually thinking monkeys this time but not entirely sure since I doubt their value is as high.

i have done well over 50 aquanos runs to wave 20 on NM. its just not worth it. and with the wave 24 requirement for a cat and a wave 30 requirement for a rock, yeah, screwdads to that.

I was starting on 23 on sky city, same as starting on 18 on aquanos really, takes me about 15 minutes to set it up, another 15-20 to do those two waves, but I do occasionally fail - strongly considering turning off mixed mode since one wave of loot is probably far less useful then the random loss to whatever train of enemies that roll my minion walls.

i dont really do pet farming per say man. its usually a byproduct of mana farming for gear upgrades. getting to wave 20 aquanos nightmare gives a ridiculous amount of mana, and its pretty easy, so it is just my default map for it. and ive got like, 15 characters that i upgrade gear on, so i needs dat mana. which is why i always start on the default starting wave.
