So i am pretty new to the PC version of DD. I came from playing it on the PS3 and due to gear not being new as high all my builder weapons had no damage on them and all upgrades went into tower stats. My questions is for higher levels on NM is it better to have a builder with a dps weapon to help out a little or just have a good DPS pet or both?

Both is never a bad idea.
Sometimes you'll have your builder non-active, and giving them a tower weapon for that time is very useful.
And at some point in survival, whatever dps weapon you have, the it might not be enough to make a dent in stuff wih your builder, at which point a few more points tower might be more useful. Just make sure the tower weapon has lots of block.

My personal opinion varies based on the builder. If we are just talking about the 2 basic builders squire/app

On an active squire builder (someone used during waves) I want to make sure i have 100% block. Also i look for weapons with high base stats (preferably spawning at or near cap) so more points can go into dmg

On an app i look for a good charge speed bonus to help protect my self (im sure some people like the knock-back too) and then again, i really try to use weapons with high starting stats to free points up for extra projectiles and dmg.

Ok, i will take a look at what my block is. Right now i just have a weapon with upgrades into tower stats and not any damage, it still has a few upgrades left though so i should be able to get the block up.

I generally add some dmg even on a stat stick if I think I might use a mana gen pet (e.g. genie) on that toon.
