View Full Version : Harpoons + Ev doesnt hit Kobolds or Goblins

I have been using Ev's physical walls and buff beam on games lately , but harpoons being buffed and firing through a physical wall CANNOT hit ANY goblin or kobold. They fire right over them , even if it takes a 1000 harpoons. Kobolds and goblins are able to run up to the wall and attack/explode on it without the harpoon killing them even then. Please fix this bug, because it can really screw up the experience making for a frustrating bug.

Yeah, got same problem atm.. And second thing is that the kobolds are dealing sh*t load of damage to walls.. While ogre deals 1-3% per hit kobbod taking 20-30% hp per Explosion..

This problem exists with or without EV walls, harpoons simply struggle to hit small targets. The only time they seem to successfully hit for me is when they aim where a kobold will be when it is walking forward, but then it pauses to light up and so the harpoon hits low enough.
Also, there was a thread on the EV walls having multiple hitboxes or something? So basically when a kobold blows up dead center it can hit 2-3 hit boxes and do extra damage. Not sure if anyone confirmed this. A sideways attacking ogre or other splash attacks have similar effects.
I posted a similiar thread to this the other day.. same problem except with adept's dps towers. No one responded so I assume it was just something of a fluke.

Happens with spiders & wyverns too. Been raised numerous times over the last 4 months, still broken & don't expect a fix any time soon.

Damnit, seems like it wouldnt be hard to make the goblins have a higher hitbox or something, but perhaps i'm just ignorant of the difficulty in fixing this

It improved significantly when they worked on the Harpoon's tracking speed and made them take movement into account for their aiming, but Harpoons have always been bad at hitting small targets or wyverns.
And I remember reading something right after SEV was released about a bug that was causing walls (mage walls, spike blockades, and phys beams, specifically) to take something like x4 damage. I don't generally use walls in most of my builds, so I haven't had to deal with it, but maybe that's still happening?

What you mean so the hundreds of harpoons passing through what looks like their bodies actually did some damage instead of harmlessly going through before breaking on the walls behind them?
Crazy talk. Next you'll be saying items shouldn't generate with high positive stats which go massively negative when they're picked up or pets/Guardian rewards with 7 or more negative stats etc.
Here's another one for you, get any monster, even an Ogre next to a wall (as in part of the map not player built) and have your harpoons shooting directly at the monster (so it should be harpoon -> monster -> wall). If you did it right, the monster is invulnerable to the hundreds of harpoons passing through them then hitting the wall behind them & breaking. If you're really lucky the monster will tear down your player built walls while it's immune to the harpoons & open the way for your crystal to be hit.

I've also had this problem, Was in fact a little dissapointed when the patch notes said harpoons where fixed and would be better at hitting wyverns etc.. to find they aren't. Oh well, if its any indication Trendy at least know there is a problem which is why these "fixes" have been added to recent patches to try and resolve the problem.

Harpoons are wayyy better at hitting wyverns. They were practically useless unless lined up just right.
A few days ago, I saw a couple 'poons have trouble with a spider on nm Summit (everyone was dead, hc... luckily just a few kills until boss). Eventually it killed its target and started towards another when it was finally hit. We all "laughed" about it, but after reading this, I wonder how many builds should be working, but aren't.
