Hi all.

Just been playing since Monday, but I'm a bit confused about the online game select lobby.

Lots of games seem to be hosted by high levels running low level campaign maps on medium/hard.

Is there some kind of unspoken rules about which games you can join?

What about the challenge maps?

I've tried to find some guidance on this through browsing these forums, the player handbook and the wiki, but there's nothing mentioned.

I have noticed on a few occasions I've joined games and been immediately booted - almost as soon as my character appears in game.

Some of the games might be newly acquired level 70s looking to grind some loot. For the surest way to play with people who want to join you, try looking in our PC Ranked Trading and Grouping subforum (http://forums.trendyent.com/forumdisplay.php?32-PC-(Ranked)-Trading-and-Grouping).

It can be brutal in public games Bipper. Many people do not like to explain before kicking, which in some instances is necessity, but in most cases is just rude. It is most likely due to your level or the gear you have. Certain difficulties require very high gear or you will be completely useless. Joining a match where you are useless just makes it harder for everyone else (mob count increases based on users playing), so people will often boot because they don't want the headaches of dealing with newer players who will make it harder on them.

I generally explain why I'm kicking, unless the game title says "74+ max resist" and someone level 22 joins. Even then I wait a moment to hear them out (maybe they have another char that is 74+).

It can be hard going, but there are good people out there too who will take the time to explain stuff to you. The problem is that it gets exhausting trying to do so and most people would rather take the easy road and kick without going through the rigmarole.

If you are needing some help I can explain further and maybe check out your character in-game. Just PM me and we can meet up on steam.

Thanks for the replies (and thanks again Dunimas as you answered an earlier question I posted!).

I guess I was lucky and managed to get into a decent group last night with a hoster that took time to explain things (like leaving unwanted loot for the proceeds to be sold and split at the start of the next round - something that really should be made higher profile for new players. Maybe a text popup on game start.).

Anyway, I've been concentrating on a Squire builder (level 28 at the moment) and earlier today was messing around using him to solo insane Deeper Well and Foundries and Forges on hardcore and then tried soloing Survival - lol...level 10 killed me off :-p

It's all good fun trying things just to see what differences there are though!

I also tried War of the Djinn solo...not realising the recommended level was 45 at the time >.<

I'll certainly bear in mind your offer Dunimas and may ask for your critical eye at some point - thank you :-)

No need to worry about the recommended level, it can be done with lower and a good setup no issues.

As or challenge levels, when you go to your crystal, just click challenges, they are generally levels with changes, or in some cases new levels altogether. Such as no towers allowed, the deeper well with no DU, assault, where you kill the crystals etc etc.
