This is getting Redonkulous IF this patch was so well beta tested why oh why do we get multiple modifed editions, fine But why is it u have to patch 7pm est or 4pm pst? do it @ 4 am when noone is online! or very few allowing it to be less effect.

It has absoultly no effect to you wether they post it to Steam at 7pm or 3am, you still have to download it when you come on. (Unless your computer is on all the time and it downloads the patch autamaticaly i could understand that)

You still have to download it, but it's the time it takes to update the servers that the game is down that he's advocating against. I happen to agree. Most normal games don't perform server maintenance during primetime. Every time they've done it during Primetime, I have seen a sharp decline in the number of games available the remainder of the evening. It's more annoying than a game stopper, but still... time is valuable and doesn't make for a good first impression. Particularly for the people in the F2P weekend.
While I don't mind daily patching because nothing is perfect, it's the time of day Trendy is choosing that I would prefer to be changed.

Ahh of course, since I live in Australia, these Server downtimes have never affected me.

Sorry I think I've read this wrong, correct me if I have.
But when they release a patch the actual TrendyNet servers aren't affected, they are all (or mostly) client patches.
The patch today infact I was playing with a friend for sometime on 7.21 and when we tried to invite a friend that was on 7.22 and we couldnt figure out as to why he couldn't connect. Of course 30 minutes later we figured that we were on the old patch and he was on the new patch, though he could still play, as could we.
The patch never caused us (me & my friend) any downtime whatsoever apart from the tiny frame in which we had to physically quit the game to patch the client upto the current version, in order to let our other friend connect, though the Trendy servers were actively working during this timeframe.
So technically, the game is never infact down (unless there is steam maint or a problem with TNet servers, but thats another story..), and the patches during "Primtime" never actually have an effect on the current people within the game.

The only instant I noticed with this was in the release of 7.20 where the servers were affected for around 3 hours so I can't testify to the additional patches. I did find this instant to be severely inconvenient, even with the new content coming, since I only have a limited amount of time that I can play.
If patches are handled behind the scenes, then it doesn't matter as much for when the patches are applied, but this create a new problem where players are not notified that a new patch has been applied. Perhaps a better patching system is in order entirely. Is there a way to set it so that patches can download in the background, notify you while downloading, and be applied when you exit?
On a side note, it's kind of frustrating that people are voting down this discussion when it is a sincere effort to fix a problem with the management of the game.
Honestly.. I don't think I'd mind this, and I actually think you should be happy about it, that they're trying and able to fix the bugs quickly.
I've been a console player on dungeon defenders almost since release, and I wish the console had patches at least 0.1x as often as the PC version does.
(Not blaming Trendy, I blame the way console patches are handled by Sony + Microsoft, but don't want to start a debate about that here)

TrendyNet itself is almost never down (probably only for a few minutes while new items/achieves are added to the database, which only happens a couple times per month - if that even requires the server be taken down), but when Steam's servers go down for maintenance, it prevents us from logging into TrendyNet. I'm of the firm belief that Trendy need to find a way to prevent steam downtime from kicking players off DD at the least, though I can understand the limitations preventing new logins while steam's down.
As for patches happening at bad times, simply pause the patch if you need the bandwidth, or even turn off automatic updates so you can still play while waiting for the right time to patch. Thankfully not having the latest version only prevents you from playing with people who do.

What irks me is that They Patch and kick me off all the time and there is no way to know if i am on most current edition or if i need to restart to download to see all the games etc.. I mean 7.22 7.21 compatibility issues etc.. if they are going to force a patch prevent old versions from logging in to trendy so Everyone updates then. And they Know they need to! and again patch During Evening for your primary Player base is poor, Patch instead after Midnight PST!
pardon me

I'm pretty sure Trendy has no control over the time that the patch is released. Not sure what you're complaining here for.

patches DO NOT kick you, steam going offline kicks you, or a hitch in you conection for a tiny bit can kkick you. trendy servers rarely go down

Okaaaay. Misunderstanding time:
1. "Patches kick me off." : FALSE.
An update to the Dungeon Defender game in no way kicks you from your current game. I know this for a fact - I had a survival running on an old version for TWO DAYS after a Patch was released, because I wanted to finish it and was tight on time the first night.
2. "Then why is it every time I disconnect and restart the game, there's a patch waiting, smart guy?!?!" - BECAUSE:
The game only checks for updates periodically, or when you restart the client. It notices the patch and picks it up. You notice it patching because it doesn't auto-start like you're used to.
The only patch=disconnect mechanism is STEAM patching, and Steam's patches are far less common, and in no way associated with Trendy's.

Trendy is forced to do this changes almost every days because they have HUGEST Betatesters team of all games around here.
All of us.
They introduced a change, then people complain on forums about that, then they go back, then people says "well, maybe that isnt so bad", then they go forward again.

Doesnt mind if Trendy servers are more reliable than NASA ones, if your connection depends on Steam connection. DEDICATED SERVERS JUST NOW! Or a system saving from disconnections.

Thankfully, here on the internet I don't have to have your approval or belief. I can simply not care. The facts are what they are - if you choose to ignore them in your blind crusade for blame, feel free to do so. The functionality of the patch system is unchanged by your ignorance.

Okay now is does not kick you off but noone can join your games so u build survival to 20 invite yer buds and noone can join :( it sucks heh basically trendy needs to set a "downtime" each day or something or a way from within the GAME to determine if theere is a new patch

I've left survival games running for 48 hours before, thats the only reason i've got so much time on my account for the game (only been playing a month and have like 150+ hours).
Why would the schedule a downtime when they are not down?
