View Full Version : Steam Demo, crash, tavern fps drop.

Hello forums,

I was browsing steam and watched some gameply and decided to download and try the game before i bought it.

The download completed and i did the full tutorial. I loved the game and was going to purchse the game and all dlc's. So after i finished the tutorial (ogre beat me lol), i went to the tavern and my fps dropped to the point i could barely move my cursor.

I then , tried to exit to main menu and got a game has stopped working error.

I have a pretty decent machine, i play league of legends at max fps, swtor, bf3. This game doesnt even come close to those requirements.

I figured to save you the time, i'd list the things i tried. I searched the forums and found that since im using a asus made radeon, on an asus machine, that'd i uninstall the gamer osd and smart doctor. This did not fix it.

I then did the steam cache stuff, found 2 files. I was like okay it worked. I log in, my character is gone, so i create a new one and go to the tavern. When i try to start a map, game stops working. I run the cache thing again and it finds two files. Load up the game, same thing, about 1 fps in tavern, when i try to start the game, it stops working.

I notice that fps game skips when the big blue wheel starts up. When i get to the tavern the lag is unbearable. But hey, i can deal with that if i can play normally. Now the game wont even run a match.

I decided to skip steam and download the demo somewhere else , from that gamersgate or whatever. Same thing happens. So now i know it a client issue.

I WANT TO GIVE YOU MY MONEY , SO PLEASE HELP ME :)

Now i decided to try it out on xbox, and play around to see if i'd like the game and i really did. Problem is, i want all the bonus stuff on pc and prefer my online gaming to be on my pc.

So i hope i gave you enough of an explanation of what is going on. Now, i know you'll ask for my dxd, but I have never once in all my gaming seen any reply from a dev over a dxd file. I have tested and played games for 20 years ( i am that old).

The dump files i found, the devs have also never replied to.

So please try to help me with solution if possible, i dont want to waste my time and yours by posting specs etc that are just delays on problem resolution. Again, i don't have any issues whatsoever with any other game i play so im 99.9% sure its this client.

Is the full version a different build and release than the demo version? I tried running game booster, iobit turbo boost etc as well. I even disabled everything in windows and straight up ran dungeon defenders only. im at a loss, and really want to get a chance to play the game.

i dont mind the pricetag, i was planning to purchase all the content.

The game itself will not run anymore. So i can't even play. I have been researching the forums on steam and here and have seen some topics about the gamer osd thingy.

I used revo uninstaller to remove osd and smart doctor, for some reason smart doctor is still installed. I am wondering if something from osd is still there.

Should i reinstall DD after removing osd/smartdoctor? can anyone help point me to a better uninstaller or decrapifier program for my pc, maybe there is a conflicting process running?

an update on what i've tried.

after uninstalling gamer osd, i couldn't start a game, the spalsh screen was black.

I disabled my radeon 6700 and enabled my radeon 3000 series (onboard card). the game wouldnt even load.

I reinstalled the game..and it runs worse. so if anyone does have a solution pm me. i'll check back, shame , cause its such a fun game.

The demo and the full game are pretty similar so if you're having the issue in the demo it can probably happen in the full client. Are you by chance using an xbox controller or an controller emulator? Those sometimes can drop the FPS depending. If you couldn't start the game at all after uninstalling gamer OSD, I would do a quick verify of your cache to make sure the actual client itself is good.

well im not running any controllers.

I uninstalled it and reinstalled it in my c: drive.

When i launch hte game, everything is cool till that circular logo, can see it skipping a bit. I then get to the tavern , prolly around 1fps in there.

When i start a game i get the "has stopped working"

Im really itching to play this on my pc, i got it on xbox, but when the wife wants to watch t.v im s.o.l

on a personal note, i tested the game on my intel, nvidia machine, all namebrand pc, but lower end. I have come to the conclusion i will never use AMD products again.
