View Full Version : Frame rate drop - a peculiar issue...

Hello all,

I've got an issue with a frame or 2 or 3 dropping every 2 seconds or so. I have a clean install of Windows with just my video driver installed, and an anti-virus. When I run it in windowed mode, the problem persists, however when I click on the desktop in the background, the game seems to run perfectly smooth!

I'm thinking it's either a sound driver related issue, but I can't be sure. I've tried disabling and also uninstalling the sound card, but that does nothing. If anything it makes it worse!

I really am at wits' end with my problem. If some people out here can give some suggestions it'd be hugely appreciated!

My system specs are:
Intel Core 2 duo E6600
nVidia GTX 285
8GB Ram
Windows 7 x64 Ultimate
500gb HDD
Avast Antivirus
Logitech G15 keyboard (the old 18 G-key version)
MX Revolution mouse
Dell 30" 3007WFP Monitor

Bump, just to keep it active

Bump for some attention. Suggestions please? Will update what I try as I try it.

EDIT: So I hadn't installed all the updates yet. Windows 7 Service Pack, + the 5 additional updates, seems to have fixed it. Just in case though, I also re-did my x360ce configuration for my non-xbox non-ps3 controller). It seems to run fine now @ 1920x1080 high quality, but I haven't entered games yet, only gone into the tavern.

Please close this thread mods. Thanks :)

I've read that x360ce can cause a lot of FPS problems if using wrong drivers.

At first x360ce was crashing upon trying to run it, but just had to run the directx web install and all is good :)

Glad to hear you got it working! I've forgotten to suggest making sure your windows is up to date in the FAQ so I'll do so. But like corruptforce stated, x360ce can cause FPS issues too so maybe it was a combination of both perhaps.
