View Full Version : Suggestion: when building a tower, show the attack cone on the minimap as well.

This would make long-range towers such as the Bowling Ball and Deadly Striker much easier to place accurately. But of course it can also be useful for traps and auras.
Increasing the field of view currently helps somewhat, but I find it's often not enough. An alternative would be to allow free camera movement while placing towers, instead of the locked top-down view.
What do you guys think? :)
EDIT: also show the cone of the tower whose information is being viewed, as suggested by Zenxacred below.

I'd like to add being able to see the cone/range when looking at a towers extra info.

This, so much. I have to guide myself based on terrain features to line some towers up right. Partly why I'm focusing on my squire instead of my apprentice - deadly striker towers' range is impossible to see. At least with monk auras you get to see how far they reach after you place them. Perhaps a visual mode that allows seeing the cones in-game would also help?

Yes, that too. Good one!

I saw this thread the other day and didn't even think to look in. This idea would be a very nice bonus. Not everyone uses the map, but it would be a great feature to be able to see the targeting ranges on towers you are inspecting or building.
It doesn't always make a difference but it can help when trying to get the best field of fire.

This would be much needed. Or at least the opportunity to zoom further out when placing towers.

That would be way helpful sometimes trees always get in the way.
