View Full Version : President's Day Event - My List of Grievances

I'm not going to talk about Valentine's Day, except in an oblique reference, but that deserves its own thread.

1) This is not a pvp game. Just calling it out. Designing an event around pvp is a very dubious decision at best. I'll let that go, though.

2) Designing a pvp event in which the most important factor is the location of an unkillable super NPC who can one-shot any hero, any time, anywhere, on any difficulty is NOT a pvp event. It is a survive-the-juggernaut-while-trying-to-kill each other event.

3) The duration of this is absolutely ridiculous. PvP - which clearly is not a Trendy specialty - is not about long endurance matches, except in TBS, occasionally RTS (LoL being an exception, though those matches are usually decided in brief spans of seconds and have a lot of wasted time), and Chess. PvP is short, violent, and then you start the match over. I can't imagine trying to dodge Nightmare Kobolds and Ogres for the required time - all the while noting that the slightest error causes you to lose points when half the arena becomes lethal because of the flying demon.

4) President's Day, last I checked - and Trendy is American - is supposed to be a day in recognition of certain old, long-dead leadership figures of this nation. Arguably, it might be about more current Presidents. It is certainly not about who I got to my horror with my huntress: Michelle Obama. Nor is it about this ridiculously-colored, oafish looking little quasi-mutant "Democratic Donkey." It certainly has never been about candidates for office who have not even been so much as anointed by their own party, if other threads are to be believed.

With all due respect, in view of this "event" and the Valentines "Event" I would like to suggest that Trendy switch from a policy of quantity to one of quality. This event wasn't paid for - and wasn't required. Have your art assets do something more useful to the Eternia series. Have your design team code some new, interesting mechanics.

Have your beta testers be given a chance to tell you that being one-shotted on any difficulty with any character BY A MONSTER when you're trying to pvp is NOT fun pvp.

Quantity is only greater than Quality when it is enjoyable. A lot of us were looking forward to a boss battle zone after certain recent comments.

The only thing worse than Valentine's I can think of, sadly, is this. I hope I won't say "the only thing worse than President's Day" on the next one.

Quality please. Not Quantity.

Agreed on all points. I'm very disappointed (becoming a trend between the valentines mission and this).

Somebody needs to go to Trendy's offices and look at every single project they're working on and ask:

"Is this fun?"

Because clearly they can't do that for themselves any more.

+1.

Dumb mission, really. Took me and my friend forever to get at least 18 score...you gotta me kidding me 100 score limit = fail.

They should change that to at least 25 something on NM. I don't know how many hours you'll have to spend on that, considering you get -1 point for dying from a mob, rather make it -1 point from Demon/Ogres then it would make some sense.
Also Some random Kobold lights up near the spawn location and goes off at the very time you spawn. Wow even no spawn invulnerability, I got insta-killed pretty much 5-6 times?!?!

Stupid mission, badly tested.

/gonna spam this.

This is not fun at all. Getting one shotted on easy by monsters when i have a squire that has all resists at 90 and 30k hit points. I was hoping for a boxing match where it was hero vs monster and you work up to more difficult monsters. Just like mortal combat or something. This isn't fun.

Keep it in the official thread.
