View Full Version : 1.17c Misty nm hc-mix -- makes huntress = obsolute or unplayable

i`ve got 1500 hero heath and 90% resist, with 65-70% resist to all elemental in nightmare and my dps hunter gets 1 shot-ed (1 hit = dead) by an assassin. this would mean that the only class that can play is definitely not app/mage or hunter. I was wondering if it is meant to be this way ?

This occurred on wave 10 misty. I have no problem with the setup, no monsters are getting through except for assassin jumping over the walls and killing everyone (1 shot-ing all hunters in the game).


Added: Seems that this problem occurs randomly i believe there is a `Big sized` assassin that spawns randomly on mix mode. Normal sized assassin does 2-5k dmg on me

This was how it was for insane when the gear wasn't there, people worked around this by not getting hit. If you're in survival ideally you should always be moving, you should be paper as a huntress, and you should be able to die with tiny mistakes.

That's not to say their damage couldn't be lowered however, but as it is now it can be avoided by simply not getting hit or simply paying proper attention.

Although i think the DEW could use a damage nerf, most of their attacks are easy to avoid if you are properly aware of their positioning.

This is true until they hit ludicrous speed as the wave number increases.

Not really. If you've never played a specific map before, then ya the DEWs can be a little crazy. But once you've had some practice in, you get to know their timing, when and where they'll be at certain times. Keep moving and don't let them creep up on you.

they move faster than my arrows on my huntress weapon. they take 3 seconds to take down a 170k squire wall with slow aura. there is no way to avoid assassins, cause u need to kill them or they will kill all walls n towers on the entire map within 20 second

only SQ with block and guard))))))))
and do not even have to be a DPS
after 19 it is still meaningless

What OP is talking about really seems like a bug. UPD: I think it's a bug because I could survive a couple of hits on later waves.

But in general, I must agree that damage in Misty HC MM is ridiculous. I can't imagine anything but squire/barbarian above wave 20 there. And that's sad. Really =/

To all those smart guys above:

1. It's MM, DEW spawns are random.
2. It's MM, add 3-5 to wave number if you want to compare it to usual HC.
3. As a bonus to #2 — it's MM, you get lightning fast ninjas (and eventually everyone else) much earlier.

PS I'd be very happy to watch a video of «If you're in survival ideally you should always be moving, you should be paper as a huntress, and you should be able to die with tiny mistakes» or «But once you've had some practice in, you get to know their timing, when and where they'll be at certain times. Keep moving and don't let them creep up on you» or «...most of their [DEW] attacks are easy to avoid if you are properly aware of their positioning » during a full wave 15+ on Misty NM HC MM. Come on, guys, don't be shy :) And it'd be very nice if you weren't the host to incorporate some lags...

How fortuitous.
I was on Misty MM HC last night with a hunter who has 80% generic resist and 36k HP. By wave 12, it was 3-shot time (around 14k damage per hit).
We have a rule that first dead each wave has to pay all the other 5m mana. Keeps you from taking silly risks, for the most part.
I agree that ninjas are pretty easy to dodge if you know their attack pattern. As soon as they jump, start backing up, strafing. Not too hard. But, they get super fast super quickly, and it only takes one little lapse in judgement, or an asshat backstab dropninja in the base to fail and die. Which in later waves mean one less pet, and therefore higher chance of wipety wipe.

So, I switched to countess for wave 15, and gave her the hunter's DPS gear. I hadn't really played DPS countess before, but with 120 less in HP (hero stats were tower specced), I had 106k HP (and I know I can ramp it much higher if I want), and call to arms meant I took at most 5k per hit from a ninja, even in much later waves. In addition, I could combat repair incredibly effectively.

I hate to agree, but it seems like countesses and/or squires are really the only viable option for late-stage survival. Which makes me sadface, because then all the weapon drops are swords.

barbarian / squire / countess were the best for survivability before the patch.. and they are the best for survivability after the patch....

i dont understand why anyone would choose hunt over squire on survival

Squire has more dps, more hp, block, and can actually repair when needed without fearing of ninjas 1 shotting em lol

i'd go with barbarian if i wasn't the builder and got to choose.

They can get HP back very quickly plus have the same HP as a squire. no block but turtle is equally good. Can also stun ninjas.

It does seem like the obvious choice. Even if you need DPS, Count/Squire can match the huntress without much trouble. Squire even has the newly best towers, so you might have somethign to boost. In anything that gets high-level, worthwhile gear, there is really no reason to ever use a huntress. I think the problem is that defenselessly, squire is many, many times better than a huntress; while a huntress is only slightly better offensively than a squire (flat out worse if you consider the Countesses ability to boost themselves and others).

They either need to give the huntress/ranger a huge damage boost, more health, or better traps. They took away a huge damage boost with the Ret nerfs (understandable, even though I think that's the kind of damage they need to be dealing, enough to make them worthwhile while no where near enough to obsolete the other classes), and now seem to be trying to improve traps. I'd rather the Huntress not just get more health; it's supposed to be a tough class to play, they just need to also make it worthwhile.

Uh, care to explain? Surely you don't actually think the magnitude of health discrepancy between squires and hunters is appropriate. Giving more survival to melee is fine and normal. A health discrepancy as enormous as exists in this game, where squires can shrug off/completely ignore attacks that 1-2 hit a hunter or mage is not fine.

If you have that much health and getting oneshotted, it's probably because the elemental affnity hadn't been stripped from them yet. For DEWs, darkness traps can make it easier to strip affinity. Without doing that, you're taking 2x the damage (before resistance).

The huntress can go invisible, shoot from a distance, and has a fast base movement speed. Going invisible won't help for Warriors, but the fact remains she can still go invisible and avoid every other mob.

Eh, invisibility has limited uses. It's OK for avoiding spiders (random webs kill it); but DEWs are really the only significant threat to a player's life in survival (everything else is stopped by walls, and hits half as hard). You would have to be a fool to actually trust invis to keep you alive. It does not even help repair walls, because the only wall repairing danger can still see you.
