I don't know if this has already been posted, but I saw this post in GD and thought it deserved it's own thread here.
... Increase the number of upgrades allowable for a given tower so that the towers can be incrementally increased in power as you progress deeper into the waves.
Increase the mana cap per player every 5th wave to the point where the maximum mana collectable is required to upgrade the tower to its next star. (ie. 2000, 2500, 3000, ect.)
This allows the towers to be balanced for campaign mode while still allowing their ability to scale better in longer survival runs.
