View Full Version : Upgraded my graphics card to improve my games, but Dungeon Defenders runs badly.

Strangely, it is the only game that does this. The video card I upgraded to was a GT 520, where I previously had a internal graphic drive. And where-as my other games run better (Skyrim, for example), this game now runs worst than before. Any help?

Try this:
Driver Sweeper: http://phyxion.net/item/driver-sweeper.html and purge all graphics drivers. Then reinstall the latest drivers for your video card off nvidia's website.

Done, but I get the same results.

What exactly is running badly? Low FPS? Weird graphical errors?
Do you by chance have any 3rd party "gaming" programs like Gamer OSD. You know perhaps something that came with the card as those are known to cause fps issues and slowdowns for DD.

Low FPS. And the only known third-party software I have is Nvidia's Control Panel.

Bumped, because I have yet to see anymore support on this.

Yea just so you know the file in steam for dungeon defenders is hardwired to work at 40 fps, so no matter how beefy your computer graphics or ability is, it will only max out at 40, i usually have this problem too. Very difficult to solve. =/
The card you bought isn't exactly meant for gaming, it's barely better than Intel on-board video if it's better at all.
You added something awful to replace something awful.
As we saw in our benchmarks, NVIDIA's GeForce GT 520 is clearly not good enough for any serious gaming. If you are willing to sacrifice details settings, down to lowest in most games I could imagine things being playable at 1024x768, but not beyond. Decent cards for gaming start around $100 with GT 440 or HD 5750, which means $40 more than the GT 520. So instead of going with such a low-end card the better choice would be to buy one game less and spend the saved money on a decent graphics card like the GT 440 or GTS 450.

That doesn't explain why Dungeon Defenders suddenly runs terrible, where as I got great improvement over my other games. And I repeat, only this game is doing this.

For the record, with vsync on I run solid 60fps, without vsync > 100fps

I am saying this on every thread about low FPS but I have the same thing...
