View Full Version : Incr/decr ALL towers radius/angle +Stop towers from facing mobs behind obstacles

Ok, so i'm playing mostly Countess as main builder and i found 7.15 patch really helpful, but still i can't do most of suvival maps because of weak air defense.

For example: some maps are really easy for squire when it comes to anti-air, like ramparts, i only need to place 4 bouncers in right spot to guard from wyverns, but unfortunately most of maps require harpoons for wyverns, because they are flying too high.
Problem is, that harpoons are distracted by other monsters, and will only react if wyverns are closer to defenses than rest of enemies. Turn speed helped a little, but still slow projectile speed can't manage to kill wyverns when they are flying too high too much on left or right or something. Expecially because Harpoons target monster's current position, not predicted one.

So my solution for this problem would be to add funcionality to change towers radius/angle, like Auras and Traps range can be changed.
Harpoon have about 120 degrees shooting angle/radius, if we will be able to change it to lets say 20 degrees (like deadle striker tower have) Squires can use one harpoon to be dedicated wyvern killer by placing it in right spot so it won't be distracted that much.

Why Squire needs it? Let's take for example Hall of Court, place one App's MM tower behind left crystal, and one harpoon near it.
You'll see, that MM tower won't shoot mobs that are on lower level and tower can't see them, because it just can't shoot them, but when wyvern comes it will start shooting at it right away, while harpoon will have to turn to it and some of projectiles won't hit it (with wyvern swarming on wave 15+ on nightmare at least 1-2 of them will damage crystal when harpoon is guarding it, and that's too much for survival).
Same goes to most maps, on Endless Spires because of harpoons targetting other monster before turning to wyvern crystal takes damage, on later waves this damage is huge (more wyverns, and more other monster distracting haproon).

Another idea is that Harpoon (and other towers) won't turn to mobs it can't shoot, behind obstacles, on upper/lower levels, so it will focus only on wyverns on earlier mentioned Endless Spires.

harpoons are horrible against single enemies in general, because they have such slow projectile speed. they are really only awesome in choke points because of their piercing. their projectile speed should be on par with deadly striker towers.

having said that, scaling attack angle would be nice, but i dont really want to see range scaling ;p

Scaling range is nice but better AI would be ideal. Just get them to prioritize wyverns and also make them shoot Mobs that are in LOS

AI idea is good even better than mine, but of course harpoon should prioritize wyverns at max range and always max range.

Also, in case it doesn't do this already, the harpoon should be hitting the ogre low, so that it also hits other mobs :)

I haven't played enough to see if this happens, pure theorycrafting here.

That reminds me. Make towers hit bosses in vulnerable spots!
