I've been looking around the forums and hitting google for the last like hour or two, and haven't found anything, so if this has already been answered I do apologize. I just didn't find it. I heard from a few different people that the drops from chests have a greater chance of having the "rare" good stats than mob drops, and when farming like say hc nm spires they say if you can last through all the waves, to only bother looking at the gear that drops from the chests between each wave because those are going to be the best anyway and to just ignore the loot on the ground. Is this true? This was told to me by a few different sources when I was complaining about not having enough time between each wave to hit all chests, and also check all the items on the ground before the new wave would auto-sell everything.

If mobs can drop the same quality gear, then is there something I can do being able to have more time to check the loot on the ground while still also having the ability to hit all chests before the next wave start? I fear greatly when I start moving to nm hc mm that it's only going to get worse as that map is much larger than spires.

Thanks in advance for any information you can give me!

You should definitely be hitting the chests first. Then, if you have time check the stuff on the ground.

Occasionally there might be something worthwhile on the ground, but it's fairly uncommon.

If you use a fairly standard setup for Misty, you can check gear on your way to chests as it all falls pretty close to the middle of the map.

From my experience the chests DO have a higher chance of good loot vs mobs. You can still get crappy "torn" or super low quality stuff from mobs even on nightmare hardcore. So yes the chests a priority. Personally on misty i start checking gear during the last 20% of the wave when its mostly spiders, not too hard to dodge a spider or 2 while looking at gear, that way when the wave is over ive already checked at least 75% of it so i have plenty of time to check chests and repair/upgrade. If you need help with misty on hc or spires you can checkout my setups on youtube by searching mopower83

So to answer you question it seems like in my limited experience I see the very best items come from chests in the higher waves but I do see good items come from mobs every now and then. If you are bored with campaign to hardcore survival, no timer for that one.
